Humanitarian aid

Project name: One refugee child one school fee sponsorship (ORCOS)

The civil war in the north-west and south-west regions, coupled with Boko-haram terrorist attacks in the northern regions, have placed Cameroon in a constant humanitarian emergency situation that requires assistance. From 2014 to 2022, approximately 8,000 civilians and military personnel have been killed in Cameroon and 2.5 million people have become refugees or IDPs. A large proportion of these refugees are children. These children are either abandoned in conflict zones after the death of their parents, or have fled during armed conflicts and landed in large cities such as Douala where they sleep on the streets without any support, or have entered orphanages where they cannot be cared for properly due to the limited resources available to these orphanages. The ORCOS project therefore consists of
gathering orphans from conflict areas and placing them in different orphanages where they will be properly cared for. Although the costs of accommodation, food, health and recreation are also included in the ORCOS project, the most important point is education, as it is through education that these children will be able to secure a better future and become independent of any kind of aid, which is in line with GEFINAID's policy of helping people in need to become independent.
